Our hearts feel so heavy, we weep under a crushing sadness, our beautiful Casper is gone. I know this all-sounds cliché, but he was so loved by our family. He was so much more than a pet. Casper brought us so much joy, love, comfort and companionship.
We fondly remember him running wide open from one side of the backyard to the other, leaving an arched dirt trodden trail etched into the tall green fescue. Or, discovering him one day nonchalantly standing on top of our kitchen table.
We remember the warm embraces when leaving the house for the day, and the jubilance, both displayed and felt, on our eventual return later in the day. Lazy weekend mornings with all the snuggles, hugs and kissy kisses. We are so thankful for his relentless example of unconditional love.
As Adrienne often said, Casper was our “sweet, sweet boy”, or object of our love “who is the prettiest white puppy dog in the whole wide world?”. My Dad admiringly once said, you got a “good ole dog”. He was my “buddy”, he was family, he was a best friend. We love you and miss you Casper.
We know Casper is free from his broken body, running and playing in the great outdoors of Heaven. And then, coming to rest for a while on Dad’s lap, while giving big kissy kisses to Mom. I so look forward to seeing them all once again some glorious day.
For family and friends, I’ve uploaded more photos of Casper here.
So sorry for your loss. 😦

Losing such a friend is hard to bear. Time and memories comfort; but, the ache never truly heals. I had such a friend for seventeen and half years; and, nowadays even after such a long time I still miss her.

No, it’s not cliche. And, I’m sorry for your loss. We just lost a 19 year old cat. We were ruined. Even the dogs were upset.

Thanks Ray. Sorry for your loss as well. Our bond with four legged famy members speaks to the powerful connection we have with oneanother at so many levels.

Yes. The funny thing is that the cat was a luxury. We also have five dogs. They run the house.

Are you leader of the pack? You usually reference “the dog saw”, guess that’s because you have so many to keep track of. 😉

That’s Sophie Rose. She like to walk alone with me. She walks up to things and looks back at me. The others don’t care about walking alone. They are all female Cocker Spaniels. And, they are all rescues.

I’m so sorry for your loss Sam 💔 I have experienced this type of loss and know how you feel. My wife and I always take comfort in knowing that our dogs weren’t in pain anymore when it was time for them to leave us. It still hurts like hell though.

My heart is heavy for you…. We lost our 15 year old black lab several years ago and I still think about him often. (doesn’t help that his name is part of many of my passwords lol). The “Rainbow Bridge” poem was sent to me for comfort and I’ve held on to it, read it many times. I hope you don’t mind its length, but I wanted to share for you and your family.
“Rainbow Bridge”
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
That pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
So they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
They miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
Suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he begins to run from the group flying over the green grass,
His legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
You cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face.
Your hands again caress the beloved head,
And you look once more into those trusting eyes of your pet,
So long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Oh Donna, thank you so much. Until today, I’ve only associated Rainbow Bridge with just some simple notion. I hever understood their was wonderful poem and it message of hope and comfort. While I did have a good cry, I have internalized a bit more comfort in knowing our Casper is in a good place and will be someday joyfully reunited. All my best to you.
