I’m humbled and so thankful to be among the Triad ArtPop Street Gallery winners for 2019! My 48 ft billboard is scheduled to install in Greensboro, North Carolina the week of July 1st. I appreciate the patronage of Lamar Advertising, and support and recognition from the folks at ArtPop Street Gallery and the Winston-Salem Arts Council.
This image was from a two part August 2017 Sunflower Study post. In addition to the compositions, the post highlights how mathematics is so prevalent in nature – (e.g. the Fibonacci Sequence, Fractal Geometry, the Golden Mean and Golden Spiral). A fascinating but quick read. Below is the original composition, click to see the high resolution version along with other compositions from my Sunflower Study.
The ArtPop experience has encouraged me to think more broadly about extreme cropping. Usually, I tend to keep my composition aspect ratios close to standard 4×6 or 5×7 – ensures I’m able to reuse framing from earlier compositions. However, I will now be more deliberate about exploring composition ratios to the billboard and beyond!
