This post features a composition study of an old barn and corn crib on display at the New River Trail State Park, Foster Fall section. My Boy Scout Troop camped, canoed and biked here this past weekend. Such a beautiful destination!

We have travelled through so many areas of America this year where we have passed by these types of fabulous abandoned and decaying barns and wooden buildings – you’ve inspired me to give a go at trying to capture the beauty of some of them. Thank you 🙂

You’re welcome! These relics are fast disappearing. From interior paneling to picture frames, old barn wood is now in high demand. I appreciate your feedback.

These compositions are really strong. Especially the second one, where you use vertical lines powerfully to add interest to Thor photograph

Excellent composition. Looks a bit like infrared processing. Very cool!

Thank you sir. I did punch up the yellow luminance a bit, along with the morning direct sun, it does have an IR feel.

Thanks! Back in the late 80s and early 90s, I loaded and shot quite a bit of 4×5 and some 8×10 color film. Loading those film holders in the dark, you need the notch to make sure the film is facing the right direction. 🙂
